The Uganda National Roads Authority yesterday commissioned construction of Nyakiraguju-Bugamba-Kitwe road linking Mbarara, Isingiro and Ntungamo Districts.
UNRA’s south western regional manager Benneth Kiganda revealed at the launch that the central government project, which commenced on 30th June 2017 that construction will take 8 months and will handed over for utilization.
The project was contracted to EFRA Ltd.
Kiganda revealed that the 53km marram road will cost government Shs. 2.5billion,
Area MP Hon. Charles Ngabirano said that government is constructing such roads in the area ahead of the new district of Rwampara which is slated to become operational in July 2019.
The MP asked UNRA to ensure good maintenance of the road since, until it is tarmacked.
At the launch, Mbarara RDC Capt. Martha Asiimwe asked locals to be vigilant and report those involved in stealing company fuel.
She also cautioned the contractors to avoid substandard work.
