The government, through the Ministry of Health, is currently distributing free Long-lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLINS) to the population in the ongoing ‘under the net’ campaign.
This is the third national campaign where by everyone will receive a free mosquito net. So far, 3 waves have been concluded.
According to the Director General Health Services Dr Henry Mwebesa, the Ministry of Health distributes mosquito nets every three years to all Ugandans with the overall objective of reducing the malaria mortality and morbidity in the country.
The next wave, which is the fourth in this year’s campaign, will cover the following districts: Pada, Madi Okollo, Maracha, Moyo, Nebbi, Nwoya, Obongi, Omoro, Packwach, Terego, Yumbe, Zombo, Kwania, Ssembabule, Mubende, Kassanda, Buvuma, Namayingo, Kamuli, Busia, Bugweri, Nakasongola.
The distribution is expected to commence on 6th December, 2020.
Meanwhile, the most recent net distribution exercise covered Mityana district, Busimbi division on November 9, a launch officiated at by Hon Judith Nabakooba, Minister of Information and Communications Technology.
The launch in Busimbi involved Village Health Team (VHT) members demonstrating how to properly hang a mosquito net on a bed, among other activities.
