Warriors vs Pirates (Saturday 2:30pm, Legends)
DusuPay Warriors have transformed from being a punching bag into a dominant force in the league.
They are unbeaten in six and have already accounted for three upsets against Shell Rimula Rhinos, Plascon Mongers and Toyota Buffaloes.
When they face off with league defending champions Black pirates this Saturday, there will be no guarantees for Bobby Musinguzi and his charges.
Head coach Ivan Makmot is confident his side can compete and fell any side in the league, starting with Pirates.
The two sides clashed in the quarterfinal of the Uganda Cup last year and although Pirates edged the Legends side 18-13, there was uncertainty until the final whistle.
This will, however be Warriors’ toughest challenge of the season.
Actually, it is a start to a tough end to the first round for the new look side as they face Betway Kobs and Hima Cement Heathens thereafter.
Pirates are yet to scale the heights of last season and have already lost to title challengers Heathens and Kobs.
They are 10 points off the pace in the title race and just can’t afford any more slip ups.
The rumours of player revolt early in the first round don’t seem to have helped matters and the side will need every player focused on the game if they are to replicate last season’s exploits.
The 2018 champions will still be favourites going into the tie but a perfect result is far from obvious against a Warriors side furnished with belief and motivation.
