Uganda’s Opponents for U20, U17 AFCON Qualifiers Determined

The Uganda Hippos (U20) and Uganda Cubs (U17) National Junior Football teams on Wednesday learnt their respective opponents for the forthcoming AFCON qualifiers.

The qualification games involving the teams from the CECAFA region, will determine the teams that will make it to the AFCON U20 and AFCON U17 finals in Mauritania and Morocco respectively.

The Hippos side (U20) was drawn in group B alongside Burundi, Eritrea and South Sudan.

The Regional Qualifiers tournament will be held in Tanzania from 22nd November to 6th December 2020.

The Uganda Cubs (U17) will face Ethiopia and Kenya in Group B at a tournament that will be hosted by Rwanda from 13th to 28th December 2020.

In the Under-17 Qualifiers, the top team in each group and one best runner-up will advance to the semi finals.

Uganda is the defending champion of the CECAFA U17 tournament having defeated Ethiopia 3-1 in the 2018 finals held in Tanzania, going on to storm the 2019 U17 AFCON tournament.

Group C: Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan

Group B: Uganda, Ethiopia, Kenya

Group C: Sudan, Djibouti, Tanzania
