The Ministry of Health has confirmed 8 new COVID-19 cases in Uganda bringing the total number of infections in the country to 805.
The cases were confirmed from 2,196 samples tested for COVID-19 on Tuesday.
“Results from samples tested on 23rd June 2020 confirm 8 new COVID-19 cases. The total COVID-19 cases in Uganda are now 805,” the Ministry announced.
Of the 8 new COVID-19 cases, 6 are truck drivers from points of entry while 2 are contacts and alerts to previously confirmed cases.
Of the 6 truck drivers from points of entry, 3 are from Mutukula, 2 from Elegu and 1 from Malaba while the 2 cases from contacts and alerts, 1 is from Amuru and another from Kyotera district.
A total of 14 foreign truck drivers tested positive for COVID-19.
Meanwhile, the Ministry announced that the total number of COVID-19 recoveries in Uganda has risen to 717.
A total of 2,196 samples were tested for COVID-19 on Tuesday, of which 1,521 were from points of entry while 675 were alerts and contacts to previously confirmed cases.
Currently, Uganda has a total of 805 COVID-19 confirmed cases, 717 recoveries and no fatalities.
