The Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation, (OWC) Gen. Salim Saleh has said Uganda’s biggest problem is livelihood and not the military as perceived by many people.
“The biggest threat right now is not the army but livelihood; jobs, the economy and unemployment,” said Gen Saleh.
Gen. Saleh was speaking on Saturday during an extended Capital Gang Radio program from Gulu where he was joined by Chief of Defence Forces David Muhoozi, AIGP, Andrew Sorowen, Andrew Mwenda, other officials from OWC
The OWC coordinator said the situation Uganda is experiencing now was predicted many years ago and that, he has been convincing many of his Military colleagues that they should be engaging more in Civil-military activities so that the citizens are empowered.
Gen. Saleh also advised the Uganda Police not to brutalize people arrested at demonstration saying that most of those youths are only emotional because they are jobless.
AIGP Andrew Sorowen who represented the Deputy IGP said that there is a very direct link between security and development and that as security, they will always work to restrain any violent protest that will threaten the peace of the people.
