Uganda’s Aziz Kayondo Joins Club in Czech Republic

Uganda Cranes leftback Aziz Kayondo has joined Czech Republican side FC Slovan Liberec on a four-year contract. The deal materialized on July 11.

“Welcome to Liberec, Aziz! 🇺🇬 Ugandan national defender AziKayondo,do undeJeštědem,em signed a contract until 2028.” FC Slovan Liberec confirmed the development.

Kayondo moves to Slovan Liberec from Spanish club Leganés. This will be his second club in the Czech Republic, having played for MFK Vyskov before.

He has previously played for Vipers Sports Club (Uganda), Real Monarchs (America), Leganes B (Spain), and Hapoel Tel Aviv (Israel), among others.

“I’m very grateful to be here. I’m looking forward to playing for Slovan. The environment is friendly, and the facilities are great. I can’t wait for the fans to support us this season,” Kayondo expressed his delight after finding his new home.

“I play left-back, support the attack, and prepare centers for the team. I also fight for the team and every ball. I’ll try to give my best, as every player dreams of playing for a team like Slovan.”

General Manager Jan Nezmar was positive about Kayondo’s move to the team and seemed satisfied with the transfer, highlighting his impressive skills.

“Aziz Kayondo impressed us with his typology and dispositions. He has all the prerequisites we require from a player in the left-back or half-back position.

The former Uganda Hippos (U-20) defender will stay at the club until 2028.
