Apparently, Kumar recently went to Makindye Chief Magistrate’s Court and sought full custody of his 3 year old daughter citing that the mother was unable to take good care of her. Kumar also presented a marriage certificate that Kaija says was counterfeit.
Kaija says that the certificate indicates that the two were married at Nakawa court in 2005 yet she met Kumar for the first time in 2009.
She further presented a letter dated November 26th from the Uganda National Registration Service Bureau signed by Charles Nsimbi on behalf of the Director of civil registrations showing that civil marriage number 675 of August 4th, 2005 between the two was not in their records.
Speaking to journalists at City Hall in Kampala and flunked by KCCA Legal Committee Chairperson, Bernard Luyiga, Kaija said she regretted the day she met Chavda adding that he has been the source of a lot of suffering in her life.
“The last time that Kumar ever gave me assistance intended for our daughter is when I was pregnant and he handed me shs 1 million to go and abort saying he never wanted to have a child with an African woman,” Kaija narrated.
“Kumar lost his job shortly after the birth of our baby and he has remained unemployed since then. At first, I took care of him but later he ran away from home. I can’t allow my baby to be given to this irresponsible man who has no permanent residence,” she said.
Kaija also said that she had approached various organizations like Uganda Human Rights Commission, KCCA, FIDA and Uganda Police Force but that she had not been helped.
Luyiga said that he had taken interest into the young woman’s case and that he was ready to procure a legal team that would appeal the Makindye Magistrate’s Court ruling in the High Court.
Efforts to reach Kumar for a comment on the woman’s allegations have been fruitless.
