A 22-year-old Ugandan student studying at a Chinese University has reportedly committed suicide.
The deceased, Shafik Mbogo, who was a student as Shenyang University in Liaoning Province is said to have jumped from his hostel’s balcony and died.
His body was found outside the hostel yesterday at around 2pm local time.
Authorities quickly ruled out murder.
According to Uganda’s Ag. Ambassador in China Philip Kanyoozi, the deceased was pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business and Trade at the University.
“His mother known as Dorothy Wagalinda currently lives in the UK… The school informed that they had already communicated to her about the death and her desire is to have a proper report about the cause of death,” the Ambassador said.
By Friday, there was no word from authorities about what could have driven Mbogo to take his own life.
