And with the annual tournament growing in stature and competitiveness, preparations have been vigorous and the expectations are high.

For team Uganda, it is even a bigger challenge as schools seek to retain various titles at home.

Uganda will host the games at St. Joseph’s College Layibi in Gulu District from August 17-27.

Sseninde called upon athletes to exhibit discipline while in Ugandan and rallied them to go and represent Uganda’s flag.

“I caution you the athletes to be disciplined and follow instructions from your games teachers while in Gulu. Let us be hospitable to the other people coming from outside Uganda but above all, you go and lift our flag high,” Sseninde said.

A total of 3000 athletes are expected to be in Gulu from countries such as Rwanda, Kenya, Burundi, Tanzania and Uganda among others.

Several sports disciplines will be competed in, the notable ones being football, basketball, rugby, hockey, tennis, athletics, netball, handball and so on.
