The Ugandan film industry is steadily making strides towards growth as evidenced by the increased spate of both local and international recognition it is attracting.
Barely a week after ‘Veronica’s Wish’, a multi award winning Ugandan movie being awarded a certificate of recognition at the ‘Pan African Film and Arts Festival award’ in Los Angeles, US, another local movie ‘80 Plus,’ has been given a nod in an international awards.
’80 Plus’ has been nominated in the 8th edition of ‘Luxor African Film Festival awards 2019,’ in the category of Best Short Film, slated for March 15-21, in Cairo, Egypt
The film is competing for the accolade with other short films across the continent like ‘Ales’ from Morocco, ‘Dagu’ from Ethiopia, ‘Kazungu’ from Rwanda, among others.
’80 Plus’ was directed by Davidson Mugume and Lucky Laura Atwiine, who is best known for her directorial role in NTV’s ‘The Hostel.’
The movie stars characters Mahad Kibuuka, Arthur Nyakkabwa, Nicolas Mukasa and Felix Bwanika Bbale.
