H.E Ambassador Ahmed Ssenyomo who passed away in on Friday September 2020 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia has been laid to rest.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry announced last night that Ssenyomo had been laid to rest in Mecca in accordance with his last will.
“The body of the late Ambassador was officially laid to rest this afternoon in Mecca – the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in accordance with his last will. The burial ceremony was attended by the family, friends and relatives of the deceased as well as officials of the Uganda Embassy in Riyadh and officials from OIC,” announced the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
At the time of his death, Ambassador Ssenyomo was the assistant Secretary General in charge of Economic Affairs at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretariat, a position he was elected to in 2018 and assumed office in March 2019.
Prior to this position, the late Ambassador Ssenyomo served as the Deputy Head of Mission at the Ugandan Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from 2009 to 2018.
From 2003, to 2008, he served as the Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Kampala.
