Ugandan defender Joseph Otieno has switched clubs in Burundi having departed from Lydia Ludic Academica to giants Musongati Football Club.
Otieno joined Lydia Ludic Academica from Uganda People’s Defense Force (UPDF FC). He also featured for several local clubs in Nyamityobora Football Club and Sports Club Victoria University.
He departs Lydia Ludic Academica following the team’s relegation to the second division at the end of the previous season which ended prematurely.
His new team Musongati finished last season in the second position with 56 points behind champions Le Messager Ngozi.
The team will however, take part in the CAF Confederation Cup after their triumph in the 2019/2020 Burundi President’s Cup.
In Burundi, he turns out with two other Ugandans in midfielder Allan Brian Kizza and defender Stephen Mugisha who feature for Le Messanger Ngozi Football Club.
Other players that have joined Musongati FC are like Nduwayo Isaac (Inter Star), Assuman Ntahobari (Vital’o Fc), Akimana Tresor (Buja City), Ndizeye Seifu Thomson (Vital’o FC), Wilondja Ismail (Rukinzo FC) and Tarack Tharcisse ( Ngozi City).
Musongati Football Club is owned by Burundi’s president Évariste Ndayishimiye.
