The Chief Executive Officer, DFCU Bank, Mathias Katamba has urged business women and entrepreneurs to actively participate in educative campaigns that are put in place to sensitize and impart business skills to improve the way their do business.
Katamba said that participating in initiatives like the Rising Woman Campaign organized by DFCU Bank, Nation Media and Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) gives the women exposure to trainings and financial assistance which they can use to move ahead in their businesses.
Speaking at the official launch event for the 2019 competition, Katamba called the initiative a “…fundamental step on the path to creating a financially-enabling environment for female entrepreneurs,” urged Women with good business ideas to take up the opportunity
‘Women are encouraged to participate in proposal writing which started running on 7th June and will go on up to 20th September 2019. The top 3 winners will win UGX 15 million, 10 million and 5 million respectively. The Top 10 will take part in an all-expense paid study tour to Nairobi. All these opportunities are up for grab and no woman should be left behind’ he said.
UIA’s Director of Investment Promotion Development Division, Mrs. Shiela K Mugyenzi called the partnership a match made in heaven because it brings a combination of necessary resources to local women entrepreneurs.

The initiative which was started last year under the theme ‘Taking your business ahead’ is meant to recognize, celebrate and promote a culture of mentorship among women in business in Uganda& targets Ugandan business women, small scale investors, among others
Business women willing to participant in the campaign are advised to visit the Dfcu website to download a form with guidelines on proposal writing and submit two copies of the proposal to any dfcu Bank branch, Daily Monitor offices countrywide &UIA offices or district commercial officers in their respective districts.
