Uganda v Cape Verde: FUFA, Police Warn Against Forgery As Tickets Hit Market

Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) and peace Keepers the Police force have issued out cautions and alerts to fans against fake tickets ahead of the Cranes vs Cape Verde game.

Uganda Cranes will play host to Cape Verde in Mandela National Stadium in an AFCON qualification game scheduled on November 17th.

There has been a recent outcry in recent Cranes matches where many fans were denied access to the stadium due to possession of fake tickets.

Addressing the Press on Thursday at Lugogo, FUFA Head of Marketing Rogers Byamukama said:

“We have heard these claims and listened. This time round we have made some changes by adding distinctive features on our tickets that include bar codes, distinguished colours and silver linings.

“We call upon the public to buy tickets from the only gazetted areas.”

The tickets have gone on the market today (Thursday), it has been revealed.

Ticket prices go for Sh15000 (ordinary), Sh40000 (VIP) and Sh150000 (VVIP).


Assistant Inspector General of Police who doubles as Directors specials duties in the Uganda Police Sande Andrew Soroweni also warned the public:

“Our work is to warn or alert the public about the outcome of forging those tickets. My officers are very alert.

“It is very clear, forgery is a crime and punishable by law. You are liable to be arrested and executed. And buy the tickets early and come to the stadium early to avoid inconveniences. Buy the tickets only in gazzeted areas, and let no body sell u a ticket outside the gazetted areas.

Uganda Cranes are on top of Group L with 10 points and need just one point from the remaining two fixtures – After Cape Verde, the Cranes will play Tanzania (Away) in the last group game.

The game at Namboole will be officiated by Tunisian referee Youssef Essrayri.

The first assistant referee is Yamen Malloulchi while Jridi Faouzi, also from Tunisia is the second assistant referee.

The officials will arrive in the country on 16th November and will reside at Sheraton Hotel.
