It’s barely half a year since Uganda Tennis Association was readmitted to the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and Confederation of African Tennis (CAT) after a seven year hiatus but the fruits have already been reaped.
With the International Tennis Pro Circuit still underway at Lugogo, good news reaching our desk can confirm that UTA president Cedric Babu will be among the selected key note speakers at the ITF Worldwide Participation Conference.
The inaugural two day event is set to take place at Stamford Bridge in London on 8-9 July 2018.
The conference will aim to create a global conversation for increasing participation in tennis and sport.
It is expected to bring together leading international experts in the sport to discuss ideas on how to increase participation in tennis, and in sport generally.
Over 200 delegates from around the world are expected to take part in the London event.
ITF President David Haggerty, Paralympic gold medallist Monique Kalkman-Van Den Bosch, former Great Britain Fed Cup captain Judy Murray, USTA President Katrina Adams, Paul Burditt (LTA), Paul Cammack and Machar Reid (both Tennis Australia), Stephanie Morel (FFT), Erik Poel (KNLTB) and Craig Morris (USTA) are among the other confirmed speakers.
Cedric Babu, son of Capt. Francis Babu and Olive Kigongo, has been the President of the sport for about four years.
