Of the twelve players who represented Uganda at this year’s Africa Sevens Championship, only three will feature at the Safari Sevens in Nairobi, Kenya this weekend.
Only Aaron Ofoyrwoth, Isaac Massa and Harunah Muhammad have been named in the team.
Established names like Philip Wokorach, Micheal Okorach and Pius Ogena have been left out as Tolbert Onyango tries out fresh talent.
Onyango and emerging Uganda Sevens coach Edgar Lemerigar have named predominantly young squads.
Betway Kobs fullback Joseph Aredo will captain the senior team as he returns to the fold of the team.
Aredo was dropped from the team that played at the Sevens World Cup in San Francisco early this year as well as the Africa Cup in Monastir, Tunisia.
He will be assisted by centre Isaac Massa.
The Black Pirates player has been progressing and now seems to have landed his place on the team.
Having featured for the Uganda university team in Namibia early this year, Massa was named in the team that played the Christie Sevens before making the cut for the Africa Cup.
The team will also feature Kenya Harlequins winger Daudi Semwami.
The emerging Uganda sevens side will be led Stephen Alul and Raymond Emanzi.
