Uganda Registers 8 New COVID-19 Cases as Recoveries Rise to 199

The Ministry of Health has on Saturday confirmed 8 new COVID-19 cases from 2,588 samples tested on Friday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 694.

“Results from samples tested on 12th June 2020 confirm 8 new COVID-19 cases. The total confirmed cases in Uganda are now 694,” the Health Ministry announced on Saturday.

The new cases include 4 truck drivers from Elegu border point while 1 truck driver is from Mutukula point of entry.

Additionally, 3 of the new cases are among contacts and alerts and they include 2 from Kyotera and 1 from Arua district.

A total of 1,439 samples were tested from the points of entry while 1,149 were from contacts and alerts. A total of 2,588 samples were tested for COVID-19 on Friday.

Furthermore, the Ministry announced that the total number of COVID-19 recoveries has risen to 199.

Meanwhile, 18 foreign truck drivers tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday.

Currently, Uganda has a total of 694 COVID-19 confirmed cases, 199 recoveries and no fatalities.
