The Ministry of Health has on Saturday confirmed 1 COVID-19 death in Uganda bringing the total number of fatalities in the country to 13.
In the same vein, the Ministry confirmed 49 new COVID-19 cases bringing the cumulative total number of infections in the country to 1,434.
The new cases and a death were confirmed from 3,768 samples tested for COVID-19 on Friday.
“Results from COVID-19 tests done on 14th August 2020; 49 new COVID-19 cases confirmed. The cumulative total confirmed cases of Ugandans is now 1,434,” the Health Ministry announced.
“Uganda registered one COVID-19 death. This brings the total COVID-19 deaths to 13.”
Among the new cases are 2 truck driver who arrived from Kenya via Malaba border point while 19 foreign truck drivers tested positive for COVID-19 and were denied entry into Uganda as per the presidential directive that only COVID-19 negative foreign truck drivers be allowed entry into the country.
Of 3,768 samples tested on Friday, 1,302 were from points of entry while 2,466 were among alerts and contacts to previously confirmed cases.
Currently, Uganda has a cumulative total of 1,434 COVID-19 confirmed cases, 1,142 recoveries and 13 fatalities.
