In a bid to motivate players and coaches to execute their duties accordingly, Uganda Breweries under their brand Pilsner Lager have entered a new partnership with Uganda Premier League.
The new deal will see a Pilsner Man of the Match recognised and awarded after every league game.
The Pilsner Player of the Month and Pilsner Coach of the Month will be recognised and awarded every month.
The development was revealed during the official launch of the package held at the Company’s headquarters in Luzira, Kampala.
The Company’s head of Beer, Estella Muzito commented: “This comes as a result of the confidence we have in UPL, so we have decided to do something to develop the sport.”
“We want to encourage excellence in the league by awarding the best.”
It was revealed that each Pilsner Man of the match will receive Sh100,000 while each Player and Coach of the month will scoop Sh1M.
UPL chairman Arinaitwe Rugyendo, briefly noted: “This is a wise decision for Pilsner to take on the best League that only matters and we are delighted that you have come on board to support the players and coaches.”
He appealed to the local public to support Uganda Breweries by consuming their products.
“As a federation, it’s our responsibility to ensure that the sport, football in particular develops, and I believe that this is a good Partnership, and more is still to come,” Humphrey Mandu, deputy CEO at FUFA.
The sponsorship deal which is worth over Sh450M over three years will see Pilsner Lager taking up branding and activation rights at all league matches effective immediately.
The deal covers Rights fees, Accolades and Cash for man of the match, Player of the match, player of the month and coach of the month.
Pilsner Lager were the sponsors of the inaugural FUFA Super 8 trophy that was won by KCCA FC in August this year.
It should be remembered that last season, betting firm Fortbet were the sponsors for the man of the match awards that came with a prize of Ushs 100,000/= and a plaque.
