Express FC 1-2 KCCA FC
Police was forced to use tear gas to disparse the home fans as KCCA FC managed to pick maximum points against host Express FC in an ill fated affair played in the Uganda Premier League at Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
Controversies started towards the break when KCCA FC scored their second goal, to complete a comeback after falling a goal down.
The game was temporarily brought to a standstill when the home fans from the ‘Kisansa’ end threw stones towards the pitch in protest, claiming that goalscorer Nunda was offside.
More stones were seen flying from the ordinary stand (nearer the main gate) as the home fans tried to chase away KCCA fans who were cheering loud, from the VIP section.
Real trouble rose up at the end; KCCA FC players and the referees had to be escorted by Police back to their respective dressing rooms.
Later on, tear gas had to be used as Police tried to disparse the unruly fans from attacking the referees and KCCA FC players.
Express FC lose at Wankulukuku
Ayub Kisalita opened the scoresheet for the hosts through a penalty, but the visitors staged a come back to win 1-2; Allan Okello’s tap-in and Shaban Nunda sealed the fate of the game inside the first half.
Despite the victory, KCCA FC remain four points below table leaders Vipers who won at Proline.
However, they managed to leapfrog SC Villa (50 points) to go second with 51 points.
It was a good game overall, both teams played well, it is one of those games that would have ended like 5-4, but we managed to edge it because my players had belief,” noted KCCA FC coach Mike Mutebi.
The defeat continued to diminish Express FC’s survival chances, club remains third from the bottom with 26 points.
