SC Villa vs SC Vipers
SC Villa will be hoping that history will not repeat itself as they play host to the visiting SC Vipers at Masaka Recreation Centre.
In 25 meetings, the Kitende-based side has taken the lion’s share – Vipers SC has won 10 games to Villa’s 5, scoring 32 and conceeding 27 in the process.
This may not be a title decider but the result is going to determine much on where this season’s title is going.
Villa are seated at the summit with 49 points from 23 games, this is six points and a game more than the visitors who are in third position.
In first round, this tie produced most of the top headlines of the season so far.
Vipers won 1-0 by Tom Masiko’s goal at Kitende but there was more to that as Villa fans vandalised St Mary’s Stadium; consequently, Vipers President Lawrence Mulindwa could then go on to verbally attack SC Villa.
He showed his anger in a presser held at his stadium, where he called Villa a ‘small club with no toilets’.
To cut the story short, Villa were docked two points and two goals by the Competitions committee.
Since that incident, much has changed, the club has gone on to win 14 out of 20 league games to go direct at the sumit and as we speak, they sit closer to the title than the Venoms.
