Uganda Police Bus Stolen in Kampala

Police in Kampala are hunting for one of the force’s buses, which is believed to have been stolen under unclear circumstances.

The bus Registration Number UP 5484 was reported missing since Sunday afternoon.

According to AIGP Godfrey Bangirana who heads the Police Directorate of Engineering and Logistics, the bus was last seen at around 1:00pm on Sunday, being driven along the Kampala Northern Bypass.

Bangirana says the bus was being driven by one of their officers who he only identified as CPL/DRV Mwase.

In an internal memo seen by Chimpreports, which was sent to all District Police commanders, the Director Traffic Stephen Kasiima, all Regional Police Commanders and all Units, AIGP Bangirana revealed that the bus driver was still on the run.

“Attempts to contact him on his phone have proven futile,” Bangirana revealed.

The recipients of the memo were directed hunt down CPL Mwase, arrest him and the bus occupants, and to impound it before informing the Police’s Head of Operations AIGP Asuman Mugyenyi.
