Pastor Jackson Ssenyonga of Christian Life Church is embarking on a nationwide project that is hoped to improve incomes of Pastors, so as to prevent them from exploiting their flock and also help deal with the rising numbers of fake pastors.
Pastor Ssenyonga says in his countrywide crusades lately, he interacted with a number of Pastors who told him the grinding poverty under which they operate.
“Various pastors informed me that even their families were undermining because they failed to provide basic necessities for them,” he
Ssenyonga says in the coming weeks he plans to meet over 1000 Pastors from all around the country at his church where financial experts and successful entrepreneurs will teach him on how to operate successful businesses.
“If we take time and empower the pastors they will stop focusing on the basket offertory as their means of survival because once it fails to raise enough money, many turn into false prophets ”
“Am not interfering with God’s role of helping the needy but I have decided to offer the little I have by helping my fellow Pastors who are languishing in poverty”
Ssenyonga says he is following in the footsteps of President Museveni’s program of poverty alleviation.
After training, he says, he will be providing capital to some of the pastors and supporting their churches with equipment such as public address systems.
“We need to work together to develop economically, we should not embrace negativity from some of our religious leaders.”
