The National Geographic Traveler, a United States based magazine has listed Uganda as one of the world’s must visit destinations for the year 2019.
Uganda was listed because of her rich dense rain forests which are home to half of the world’s Mountain Gorillas.
“If your longing to see Mountain Gorillas in the Wild, but Rwanda’s Ultra Luxury lodges and high permit fees don’t suit your budget , head for Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable Forest instead” wrote the Magazine.
Currently a gorilla permit in Uganda goes for 600 dollars only and 458 Euro’s while in Rwanda the permit goes for 1,500 dollars.
This year, conservationists have been celebrating success in getting the Gorillas removed from the most endangered species category .
Now, tourists have over 20 families to visit in groups of 8 trekkers and the fees help Uganda as a country.
Tourism remains the countries leading foreign exchange earner bringing in 1.4 billion dollars annually.
