Uganda’s Men Basketball team, the Silverbacks, have so far failed to impress in the ongoing 2017 FIBA AfroBasket tournament with back to back defeats.

The Silverbacks lost 54-57 to Central Africa Republic, a defeat that comes after the team have lost their opening game 94-98 against Angola in overtime.

Uganda who is now under coach, George Dean Galanapoulos lost the first quarter by 12-18 but the boys managed to come back with a bang, scoring 16 points as they reduced the gap to only 2 points as the score ended 28-30 going into the break.

In the 3rd quarter, the Silverbacks scored 13 points to CAR’s 13 as they closed down the gap to tie the score 41-41.

Central Africa Republic retaliated back in the last 10 minutes to score 16 points, limiting the Silverbacks to 13 points to record a hard fought triumph.

CAR’s Max Kouguere led the scoring charts with a double double of 16 points and 10 rebounds, Uganda’s Opong Robinson scored 15 points.

Uganda’s Adarius Pegues grabbed 6 rebounds on the day.

Uganda will now face off with Morocco on Sunday.
