The Uganda Women national football team simply known as the Crested Cranes finished third at the 2019 Cecafa senior women challenge cup and picked up the bronze medal.
This followed a 2-0 victory in the third place playoff match over Burundi on Monday at the Chamazi stadium in Tanzania.
Two second half substitutes Shamira Nalugya and Amina Nababi scored the two important goals on the evening for the Faridah Bulega side.
“We have won today, we are happy, I thank the players for this victory. Since Uganda is a developing country in women football, this is a step ahead and a sign that we are moving forward,” Crested Cranes head coach Faridah Bulega said after the game.
