Wakiso Giants FC is the first team to book a berth into the quarterfinals of this year’s Stanbic Uganda Cup after dumping out Tooro United FC.

The FUFA Big League outfit won a tense penalty contest 4-2 to storm into the last eight phase after normal time in the game played at Kyabazinga stadium, Bugembe in Jinja ended goalless.

Like it was the case in the round of 32 where the Purple Sharks won against Kireka United on penalties, they needed the same on Friday to eliminate Tooro United.

Goalkeeper Ivan Mutumba saved Issa Mubiru’s penalty while John Byamukama’s attempt from the spot rattled the crossbar.

On the other hand, Wakiso Giants were clinical in taking penalties converting all their takes through Ivan Kiweewa, Isaac Ntege, Hassan Wasswa Dazo and James Kasibante.

Action continues on Saturday with three games on card. BUL FC host Bukedea Town Council, 2016 winners Vipers SC will face Kiboga Young while Nebbi Central will be at home to SC Villa conquerers Nkambi Coffee FC.

On Sunday, Proline FC will play Onduparaka FC, Kitara FC will host Kyetume FC before Express FC and URA FC take on Police FC and Bright Stars FC respectively.
