Uganda Cup: Vipers Edge Kansai Plascon To Complete Semifinal Puzzle

Uganda Cup
Kansai Plascon 0-1 Vipers SC
NARO Ntawo playground, Mukono

Vipers Sports Club completed the puzzle for the semifinals of this year’s Stanbic Uganda Cup after nicking a hard fought victory against FUFA Big League side Kansai Plascon.

Striker Dan “Muzeeyi” Sserunkuma scored the lone goal of the game to help the Venoms win the encounter played at NARO Ntawo in Mukono.

Fresh from an emphatic 3-2 win against KCCA FC in the league, Vipers SC made only one change from the team that played on Friday with Brian Nkuubi replacing Moses Waiswa.

Milton Karisa tested the net just two minutes after kickoff but he was ruled offside and his goal did not stand.

The visitors had several moments with Bashir Asiku, Karisa and Taddeo Lwanga all coming close but failed to find the target and the first 45 minutes ended goalless.

Upon resumption, Vipers kept surging forward but failed to breakthrough. Duncan Sseninde paved way for Moussa Mbayi in the first change of the game.

The decisive moment came in the 67th minute when a well stationed Sserunkuma did no mistake to head home from Geoffrey Wasswa’s delivery.

Victory for Vipers SC means they join SC Villa, KCCA FC and Synergy FC in the semifinals.

KCCA FC eliminated Kitara FC, SC Villa knocked out Kampala Junior Team (KJT) while Synergy FC edged past Proline FC to reach the semifinals.

This year’s final will be played next month in Kumi District.
