Uganda Cup: Shaban’s Brace Spurs KCCA FC past Resilient Simba FC

Uganda Cup defending champions Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club ( KCCA FC) needed a hard fought performance on Sunday to eliminate Simba FC.

The game played on Sunday at Kabanyoro grounds in Gayaza saw KCCA FC comeback from a goal down to eventually edge the game 2-1.

Muhammad Shaban came to the rescue of the Lugogo based side with a brace to cancel out Robert Kimuli’s earlier goal for the hosts.

Veteran striker Kimuli headed home in the 24th minute from a corner but the lead did not last long as Shaban lashed onto Timothy Awany’s long pass to level matters.

With twelve minutes to play in the second stanza, Shaban rose to the occasion once again heading home another delivery from Awany as KCCA FC advanced to the round of 16.

The other games played on Sunday saw Mbarara City FC defeat Nabitende FC 3-0 while Seeta United eliminated Water FC 1-0.

Earlier on Saturday, Vipers SC powered past Police FC with a 3-1 victory at St.Mary’s stadium.
