Uganda Cup: Proline Earn First Leg Advantage over Kyetume in Semis

Proline Football Club made several changes to their squad but were still able to pick a crucial 2-1 victory over Kyetume on Monday in Mukono.

Ibrahim Bonyo launched a powerful missile that beat the keeper to give the Lugogo-based side the lead just after 24 minutes.

Mustapha Mujuzi doubled the advantage for the visitors three minutes into the second stanza through a beautiful free kick that forced coach Jackson Mayanja to substitute his keeper.

Veteran Robert Ssentongo pulled one for the hosts in the 69th minute to reduce the deficit ahead of the second leg.

Mayanja, commonly known as Mia Mia, ripped on his goalkeeper’s performance but carried hope that they will do better in the second leg.

“Proline wasn’t a very good team,” he analysed before mourning, “but, we conceded very stupid goals early in the game then, the opponents decided to sit behind and park what they call the bus. We tried to make some changes but failed to break their backline. We shall go back and try to plan again ahead of the second leg.”

Proline’s Shafiq Bisaso lauded his boys’ performance and promised to beef up the team for the final match at Lugogo.

“We played very well but committed some mistakes which we need to correct before the second leg next week. We have an advantage that we shall be hosting the second leg at home [Lugogo],” Bisaso said.
