Synergy 0-1 KCCA FC
Patrick Kaddu was the difference as KCCA FC edged Synergy FC in the Uganda Cup first leg tie played at Masaka Recreational Centre.
KCCA FC won 1-0 to put a foot in this year’s finals.
The defending champions will now look for a positive result in the return leg as they move to defend their crown.
We played some good football only that we conceded a very stupid goal,”
started Synergy FC coach Brian Senyondo.
The defender didn’t show up the physicality that was needed in around 20 yards from the goal and if you are facing any good player like Kaddu, any stupid mistake, he will punish you.”
KCCA FC could have gone in the lead as early as the 12th minute but Derrick Nsibambi headed direct to the goalkeeper from Saddam Juma’s free kick.
However, ten minutes later, Kaddu opened the score sheet with a screamer off his left foot.
In the second half, Obenchan had an effort over the bar and Nsibambi’s goal was ruled out as the striker was deemed to have been offside before he slotted home from Steve Ssemanda’s delivery.
The defending champions who ousted Kitara FC in the quarters held on to their advantage despite threats from the hosts to level matters.
In the other tie, SC Vipers managed to pick a goalless draw past SC Villa in an ill fated affair.
Return legs are expected to be played on 30th and 31st before respective winners meet in Kumi district for the finals.
