Uganda Cup: Paidha – Express Fixture Headlines Round of 64 Draw

Joint record winners Express FC will make a long trip to the West Nile to face Paidha Black Angels in the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

The 45th draw of the exciting competition was held on Monday morning at Serena Hotel in Kampala under the guidance of FUFA and Stanbic Bank officials.

Notably, the prize money has been increased from Sh90M to Sh120M with the winning team to take home Sh40M and the runner up take Sh20M.

“This season is going to be exciting and we expect more competition,” noted Sonia Karamagi, Stanbic Bank Uganda marketing manager at Serena. “We are partnering with FUFA to grow football and sports in general.”

Speaking in reception, FUFA president Eng Moses Magogo briefly noted: “We are going to organise a much better competition in a bid to see Uganda become the number one footballing country.”

He commended the sponsors: “Football would be useless without the external stakeholders, they give us confidence and we thank Stanbic Bank for theie kind heart. We will continue to sell passion and entertainment, we need the fans to come and experience all this joy.”

The 2018/19/season kicked off on December 1 with pre-qualifier games taking place across the country in all eight football regions.

The Stanbic Uganda Cup has been played since 1971 with the first Uganda Cup winner being Coffee SC who beat Simba FC 2-1 in the finals.


The Round of 64 Draw

The matches for round of 64 will be played between 19-28 December. Regional qualifiers will climax on Tuesday, December 18th.

Joint Record winners Express FC will take on Paidha Black Angels in Arua in one of the much anticipated games.

The Red Eagles won the league fixture 3-1 away in the GreenLight Stadium on November 3rd. Tony Odur, Ibrahim Kayiwa and Mubarak Nsubuga were on target for Express FC.

The Red Eagles – tenth on the log – will be the slight favourites against a rock bottom Paidha who have one win in the league to their name.

Mbarara City FC take on Maroons FC in the other Premier League fixture.

Vipers will play minnows Rushekere FC from Fort Portal, Villa will wait for their opponents after the Buganda regional Qualifiers.

Holders KCCA FC start their title defence against Amuka Bright Stars in Lugogo. Kyetume will play UPDF in an all Big league affair.

Wakiso Giants will host Vision FC as Kabale Sharp FC will take the longest trip to play Calvary FC.
