Uganda Cup defending champions Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) began their title defence in fascinating style running riot past Mbarara FC.
In the game played on Saturday at Kakyeka stadium in Mbarara town, KCCA FC did not get any resistance as they rolled to a 4-0 victory.
A brace from Patrick Kaddu and a goal apiece by Allan Okello and Paul Mucureezi helped the visitors to a comfortable win.
Kaddu opened the scores just seven minutes after kickoff heading home Kiiza Mustapha’s cross before Okello doubled the lead.
Mucureezi added the other before Kaddu sealed the washout and the latter could have scored a treble if it was not missing from the spot.
Elsewhere, 2016 winners Vipers ejected SC Bronken winning 3-1 away in Kasese.
BashirAsiku, Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye and Steven Mukwala scored for Venoms while Xavier Masereka pulled one for the hosts.
Kirinya Jinja SS were stunned by Buganda regional league side Seeta United who were 1-0 victors. Simba eliminated last year’s finalists Paidha Black Angels 7-6 on penalties after normal time ended goalless.
The game between Proline FC and Nkambi Coffee did not take place with the latter failing to honour the fixture.
The draws for the round of 32 will be made at a date yet to be communicated.
