Uganda Cup: BUL FC Out Muscle Mbarara City to Progress

BUL FC advanced to the next phase of the Stanbic Uganda Cup after edging past Mbarara City FC in an all Uganda Premier League affair.

The game played at FUFA Technical Centre on Wednesday ended in a one all draw in normal time but BUL FC managed to win 5-4 in the post match spot kicks.

The two sides fielded their best players in a bid to keep their slot in the Cup. Despite the game being interrupted by a heavy downpour moments into the second half, the game eventually resumed and ended successfully.

South Sudanese import Makweth Wol fired the Ankole Lions into the lead midway through the second half but BUL FC rallied back with a late equaliser from substitute James Otim.

The home side converted all their spot kicks while Hillary Mukundane missed his for Mbarara City FC as the penalty shootout ended 5-4.

BUL FC eliminated Kataka FC in the round of 64. Mbarara City FC. on the other hand had ejected Maroons FC at the same stage.
