The 2018/19 Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 64 was successfully completed last month with 32 teams confirming their places at the next stage.
Being a knockout competition, the Uganda Cup running for the 45th edition is always gull of surprises, shocks and thrilling action at every level.
However, what highlighted the round of 64 was the number of walkovers registered with several teams failing to honour games. A total of eight fixtures were not played with opponents failing to show up.
These were as below;
-Water FC vs Saviour FC(Did not show up)
-Akadot FC(Did not show up) vs Kitara FC
-Paidha Black Angels(Arrived Late) vs Express FC
-Calvary FC vs Kabale Sharp FC(Did not show up)
-Wakiso Giants vs Vision FC(Did not show up)
-Nkambi Coffee vs Koboko Raising Stars(Did not show up)
-URA FC vs JMC Hippos(Did not show up)
-Vipers SC vs Rushekere FC
Five teams advanced to the round of 32 through kicks from the spot after normal time had ended in stalemates.
– Mbarara City FC 0(4)-0(3) Maroons FC
– Bumate 1(5)-1(4) Ntinda United
– U touch 1(4)-1(3) Mvara Boys
– Kireka United 1(5)-1(4) New Villa
-Kira United 1(4)-1(5) St. Mary’s
Only ten teams managed to qualify away from home.
– Express FC
-Kirinya Jinja SS
-Dove All Stars
A total of 76 goals were scored with holders KCCA FC registering the biggest win in their 8-2 victory against Amuka Bright Stars FC.
The round of 32 draw is slated for Thursday, 3rd January 2019 at FUFA House in Mengo.
