• Uganda Cranes 3-0 Niger
Uganda Cranes ended their pre-CHAN mini tournament with a 3-0 walloping victory against Niger at Annex 2 Ominisport stadium in Yaounde on Thursday evening.
Vipers Sports Club winger Milton Karisa bagged a brace before setting URA’s midfielder Saidi Kyeyune for the third as the Cranes registered their second win from three games ahead of the final tournament.
Uganda Cranes proved too strong for the day’s Opponents right from the onslaught of the game with Karisa, Joachim Ojera and Vianne Sekajugo pausing threats which eventually paid off.
Karisa broke the deadlock as early as the 3rd minute when he collected a retrieved ball from Niger’s goal kick before outpacing his marksman Karim Mamadou to make a clinical finishing for the opener.
Seven minutes later, midfielder Saidi Kyeyune doubled Uganda’s lead when he met Karisa’s cut back down the right wing to tap in from close range.
In the 14th minute, pacey winger Karisa completed his brace off a tap-in from Joachim Ojera’s donkey work. The diminutive URA winger beat his marker on pace to lay a swift delivery in the area that met the first goal scorer well positioned to stretch the lead.
The Cranes drew 1-1 with Cameroon in the opening game before overcoming Zambia 2-0 to finish the mini tournament with seven points on top of the four-team log.
The Cranes on Friday morning travel to Douala where they will hold a one week training camp ahead of the group stage matches for the 2021 CHAN finals.
Uganda was placed in group C of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament alongside Togo, Morocco, and Rwanda. All the group C games will be played at Stade de la Réunification in Douala.
