Uganda Cranes head coach Jonathan McKinstry was left with mixed reactions following Uganda Cranes hard fought for 1-0 win over South Sudan on Thursday.
Halid Lwaliwa’s lone header lifted the Cranes over the Bright Stars as the victory took the hosts to seven points atop group B of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
“The performance is not the best obviously. I think we were a bit slow in transition but we were able to improve as the game progressed and I’m happy that we eventually got the breakthrough,” McKinstry noted in a post match interview.
“Obviously the result puts us in a good position and gives us confidence going forward. The target is to qualify for Cameroon and there is nowhere you are going achieve this without winning games,” he added.
Uganda Cranes will play South Sudan in the return leg scheduled for Monday 16th November at a neutral playground, Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi – Kenya.
