Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) on Monday released the activity calendar for the year 2019. The calendar has events stretching from January to December.
The national open boxing championship will be the first event on the calendar with the coveted annual championship slated to take place between 19th January -3rd February 2019.
The national open will be used to get fighters that will summoned to the national team according to UBF President Moses Muhangi, the top four boxers in every category will make the cut to the national team.
” We shall use the national open as qualifiers to the national team. The semifinalists in every category will be part of the national team. ” He said.
About 40 clubs are expected to take part in the national open. The venue however is not yet confirmed but all indicators show, MTN Arena will be used.
After the national open, a coaching course still in January, followed by national team trials in early February (both residential and non residential training).
In March, the national schools championship will be staged but 23rd-31st. The same month will also have coaches of schools undertaking training.
The other notable events on the 2019 calendar include inter regional boxing championship, inter university boxing tournament and national cadets championship among others.
