Uganda: 36 New Covid-19 Cases Reported Bringing Total to 593

Results from samples tested on June 5, 2020, confirm 36 new COVID-19 cases. This brings the total confirmed cases to 593.

The Ministry of Health report indicates that all the new confirmed cases are Ugandans from among alerts and contacts of the positive patients.

The new cases are; 9 frontline health workers from Kampala, 1 from Buvuma, 15 from Kyotera, 2 from Mayuge, 1 from Pader, and 8 contacts from Yumbe. All contacts to previously confirmed cases were under quarantine at the time of test, the Ministry noted.

11 foreigners tested positive for COVID-19 in the previously tested samples, reads the report.

Currently, Uganda has a total of 593 COVID-19 confirmed cases, 82 recoveries, and no fatalities.

The report also shows that new samples were collected and tested from various points of entry, alerts and contacts.

“The tested samples from points of entry are 648 while samples from alerts and contacts are 344 bringing the total number of samples tested today June 6, 2020 to 1310.
