Ministry of Health has Thursday, June 11 confirmed yet 14 other Covid-19 cases. The 14 new cases are from the 2,321 samples that were tested on Wednesday, June 10 bringing the total number of Covid-19 confirmed cases in Uganda to 679.
“The Ministry of Health confirms fourteen (14) new Covid-19 cases from 2,321 samples tested on June 10, 2020. Six (6) new cases were from 1,260 samples tested from points of entry while eight (8) new cases were among 1,061 samples of alerts and contacts,” reads the statement in part.
All confirmed cases are Ugandans, the statement indicates.
Additionally, foreign truck drivers who tested positive for Covid-19 were 30; 19 Kenyans, 8 Tanzanians, 2 Eritreans and 1 Burundian, and they were handed over to their respective countries of origin.
Among the confirmed cases, three were truck drivers who arrived from South Sudan via Elegu point of entry, 2 truck drivers arrived from Tanzania via Mutukula and one truck driver arrived through Lamwo District.
The other 8 Covid-19 cases were contacts of previously confirmed cases.
“Eight (8) of the confirmed cases are alerts and contacts to previously confirmed cases. These include; 3 contacts from Kampala who were under quarantine at the time of test, 2 from Amulu, 2 from Dokolo and 1 from Moyo Districts,” the statement further notes.
As of June 11, Uganda has a total of 679 confirmed Covid-19 cases, 120 recoveries and no Covid-19 related fatalities.
