UFL: Munir Said Brace Condemns Bishop Stuart in Mbarara

Pepsi University Football League

Bishop Stuart 1-2 MUBS

Majestic Munir Said was inspirational as Makerere University Business School (MUBS) outwitted Bishop Stuart 1-2 in a rescheduled University Football League match which was played on Monday 16th March in Mbarara.

Said scored a first-half brace, which was enough to see MUBS register their first victory of the season, as Bishop Stuart remains winless.

In the ‘game of penalties’, Mwesigwa Rogers scored a halftime goal from the spot-kick as well but was less effective in overturning the defeat for Bishop Stuart.

Munir Said converted an awarded early penalty kick for MUBS, 20 minutes into the game after Isingoma Solomon had handled the ball in the box.

Munir kept Bishop Stuart backline and keeper busy when his deflected attempt was spilled over the crossbar by goalkeeper, Owomugisha Rogers before his powerful low strike from a free-kick went wide.

In the 40th minute, center referee Gumisiriza Timothy was in the spotlight again as he awarded MUBS another penalty following Kizza Ezra’s foul on Ssengendo Sharif.

Munir again stepped up and sent goalkeeper Owomugisha the wrong side for the visitors’ second goal silencing the home crowd.

With two minutes to break, Mwesigwa Rodgers got one for Bishop Stuart from the spot following Arinda Davis’ handball to cut on the deficit.

The result takes Makerere University Business School to three points in the third place, while Bishop Stuart remains bottom of group D at zero.

St Lawrence University has six points on top, three ahead of second-placed YMCA.
