The first semifinal clash of the 2018 University Football League supposed to be played on Thursday did not take place as earlier scheduled.
The game between Kyambogo University and Bugema University had to be postponed after a heavy downpour on Thursday afternoon deemed the playground at Kyambogo unplayable.
The heavy rains on Thursday left the pitch water logged and hence the organisers decided to postpone the game to another date.
Anthony Tumwesigye, one of the organisers of the annual university football league confirmed to this website that the game has been pushed to Sunday this week.
” The playground was not fit to have the game played and therefore, we postponed the game to Monday, 29th October 2018 at 2pm.” He said.
To reach this stage, Kyambogo eliminated defending champions Uganda Martyrs 1-1 on aggregate while Bugema on the other hand saw off debutants IUIU 2-1 on aggregate.
The other semifinal(first leg) is expected to be played on Friday between two time winners Kampala University and St. Lawrence University.
Kampala University under coach Vincent Tumusiime advanced to the semifinals at the expense of UCU in a thrilling quarterfinal fixture. On the other hand, St.Lawrence eliminated YMCA.
