Power generators Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited have opened up, confirming that the power blackout that occurred Thursday evening could have affected all parts of the country.
The UEGL Spokesperson Simon Kasyate told Chimpreports the outage was caused by lightening which hit one of the major lines.
“It was lightening which struck the 33KV line at Nalubale power dam, which affected the Interbus connection,” Kasyate said.
He added however, that the affected area had been isolated and that the company had dispatched its team to deal with the problem.
It is still not clear whether the Bujagali power plant too was affected, which Kasyate said was being investigated.
“We want the country to know that that was an act of nature; there was nothing we could do to avoid it,” he said.
He urged the country to remain calm as their team acts on restoring the power. More details about the outage, he said, would be revealed after power is fully restored.
By publication of this, power was getting resorted in some parts of Kampala.
