UCU Student Killed in Bar Brawl

A Student of Bishop Barham University College Kabale – a constituent college of Uganda Christian University (UCU) was on Sunday morning stabbed to death in bar brawl.

The deceased is 27-year-old Cleophas Rukundo, who was pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, and was from Hamuganda village in Kitumba Sub County, Kabale District.

According to police, Rukundo was stabbed to death in the wee hours of yesterday morning at the new California T and J Pub in Kigongi, one of the known hangout places for sex workers in Kabale town.

Regional police spokesperson Elly Maate says the deceased was stabbed under the armpit by a group of people, one of whom was only identified as Tom, a resident of Kigongi cell in Kabale Municipality.

Maate says the student was rushed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital where he died on arrival.

He says police is hunting for Tom and the other culprits, and that investigations have commenced under case number CRB1778/2018.

This is the second stabbing at this joint in a few months.  On May 2nd this year, a Special Forces Command-(SFC) soldier, Stephen Kangiriho was stabbed and injured in the stomach at the same place.
