Officials at Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) have tipped young innovators to work together if they are to achieve much in the innovation world.
The Creative Hackathon, a three day competition saw over 5 teams battle with different innovations aimed at creating solutions and prototypes which were later on appraised by a group of highly experienced mentors and judges to come up with the best teams.
Participants were urged on coming together so as to better their creative ideas which would not only help them as individuals but the Country as whole in the innovative industry.
Geofrey Mutabazi, the team lead at ‘the Local,’ cited that they developed “a logistics platform that solves an end-to-end distribution problem by offering, ordering, stocking, delivery and customer care services (by profiling users to understand their needs).”
He developed the solution with the help from his team members Keith Ashaba, Xico Kashambo and Nicholas Mugume.
In the second position was Onduka, an Artificial Intelligence-powered chatbot that allows business owners to interact with customers.
Onduka comprised of Chadrack Alfred, Jonan Katenge, Tasfanesh Marcos and Verdotte Autu who as well walked home with amazing prizes.
Speaking at the event, Ronah Namanya, Head of Spirits unit at UBL revealed that, “for the winning team to execute its work, it would need to team up with the second team since the competition wanted a solution that could offer both services.”
