U-20 AFCON Qualifiers: 10-man Uganda Hippos, South Sudan Fire Blanks

South Sudan 0-0 Uganda Hippos

Uganda Hippos played to a goalless draw with South Sudan in the U-20 AFCON Qualifiers group B opener at Sheikh Amri Obeid stadium on Monday.

Uganda Hippos were the dominant side in the first 35 minutes and came close to scoring through Richard Basangwa whose 10th minute attempt off Raymond Onyai went off target.

Few minutes later, Ivan Asaba’s half volley went over the cross bar while Bobosi Byaruhanga and second half substitute Ivan Bogere shots were dealt with by South Sudan goalkeeper.

On the 35th minute of the match, Uganda Hippos were reduced to ten players following a direct red card given to KCCA defender Musa Ramathan who poked South Sudan’s James Dominque in the face.

The Hippos made some changes after the restart, resting striker Bogere for Raymond Onyai before Isma Muguluusi and Joseph Kafumbe came on for Richard Basangwa and Yiga Najib respectively.

Uganda will have a one-day rest before taking on Burundi on Wednesday, 25th November 2020 at the same venue.
