Two people on Wednesday night perished in a road accident along the Kabale-Katuna highway at Mwanjari, a few kilometers from Kabale town.
Elly Maate the Kigezi regional police spokesman identifies the deceased as Denis Mutegesi, 20 and Elvis Mwebesa, 19.
The two were riding on a bicycle at around 7pm when they were hit from behind by a Toyota Premio registration number UBF 455G.
The car was reportedly being driven by a car washer working at Kanabe washing bay.
“When they were knocked from behind, they lost control and slammed into another oncoming Prtemio number UAN 392V,” Matte said.
“The two suffered severe injuries and were rushed to Kabale Hospital where they died. The driver of the second car, one Lydia Busingye, a nurse at Kabale referral hospital was injured admitted in the same facility.”
Maate says all vehicles were towed to Kabale police yard pending inspection while the bodies were taken to Kabale hospital mortuary pending postmortem.
