Tumwebaze, Muntu Face Off In ‘Hottest Debate of 2015’

The function that will see the two top politicians among others debate issues of national interest, kicks off at 1:30pm at Hotel Africana in Kampala.

The Debate, which is open to the public, is organized by Uganda Governance Monitoring Platform under the theme, “Account before you promise”.

During the last debate, Tumwebaze clashed with FDC ironman, Col Kizza Besigye, challenging the opposition to unveil their alternatives instead of disparaging the government and causing instability.

Besigye fired back, saying President Museveni’s guerilla war was equally destructive especially in the Luweero Triangle.

Prof. Julius Kiiza is today expected to give a keynote address under the title, “To what extent has Uganda’s Political Leadership delivered on the Citizens aspirations as enshrined in the Citizens’ Manifesto.”

Hon. Kasule Lumumba, (NRM), Gen. Mugisha Muntu (FDC), Hon. Betty Olive Kamya (UFA), Hon. Asuman Basalirwa (JEEMA), Olara Otunnu (UPC) and Norbert Mao (DP) will give an appraisal of political parties in the past five years under the theme; “How relevant have they been to the ordinary Ugandan? To what extent have they fulfilled their mandate?”

According to the programme, Hon Tumwebaze, Erias Lukwago, Hon. Salaam Musumba, Mr. Willis Bashasha, Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi and Hon. Monica Amoding will give their views on how leadership has performed at different levels and the key constraining factors.
