The presidential hopeful and former spy chief Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde has eulogized bush war colleague Brig. Gen Jackson Bell Tushabe.
“My heartfelt and sincere condolences to the family and friends of comrade Gen Jackson Bell Tushabe. A pioneer in the sports fraternity and most of all, a courageous leader who witnessed many trials in the eventful life. Rest in peace dear comrade,” said Tumukunde on Twitter.
Bell passed away on Tuesday morning at Nakasero hospital where he succumbed to multiple organ failure. This was after an operation.
Bell, as he is fondly known, was among the toughest fighters of the National Resistance Army (NRA) war that brought President Museveni to power in 1986.
Bell belonged to the daredevil category of commanders like Jet Mwebaze (RIP), Stanley Muhangi (RIP), Col Patrick Lumumba (RIP), and Maj Gen Matayo Kyaligonza.
After the war, he served as commander of 4th Division Gulu, 3rd Division Mbale and 2nd Division Mbarara.
He was 61 at the time of death.
